The exchange between civil servants from Wuhan and Hong Kong has embarked on a new chapter. On September 1, the launching ceremony of the exchange program for civil servants from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government to Wuhan was held at the Planning Cultural and Creative Center of Wuhan Institute of City Planning and Design. Responsible persons from relevant departments including Wuhan Municipal Foreign Affairs Office (Government Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office), Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Urban-Rural Construction (hereinafter referred to as "the Bureau"), and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Wuhan attended the event, building a communication bridge for in-depth cooperation between civil servants of the two places.
Before the launching ceremony, participants visited the Planning Café of Wuhan Institute of City Planning and Design, fully experiencing the spatial design that combines functionality and cultural atmosphere, learning about various characteristic cultural and creative products of the Bureau, and watching the promotional video of Wuhan Municipal Territorial Space Master Plan (2021-2035) at the same time.
Zhu Ying, Deputy Director and Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Bureau, extended a warm welcome to the civil servants from the HKSAR Government. She pointed out that this event not only reflects the close ties between Wuhan and Hong Kong in exchanges, but also injects new impetus into the deepening of cooperation between the two sides. Later, Zhu Ying introduced Wuhan's overall development from multiple dimensions including historical heritage, economic vitality, scientific and technological innovation, and commercial advantages. At the same time, she elaborated on the relevant work progress and achievements of the Bureau in the field of surveying, mapping and informatization, which is involved in this exchange.
Li Jun, Deputy Director of Wuhan Municipal Foreign Affairs Office (Government Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office), stated that the urban planning and spatial governance content presented in the promotional video of Wuhan Municipal Territorial Space Master Plan (2021-2035) are the key focuses of this exchange. He expressed the expectation that civil servants from the two places will take this event as an opportunity to conduct in-depth discussions in areas such as refined urban management, optimization of social services, and coordinated scientific and technological innovation, so as to promote mutual learning of experience.
Cai Minjun, Director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Wuhan, thanked the Bureau for its thoughtful reception and shared her impressions of Wuhan: Wuhan has the ecological beauty of scattered lakes, the humanistic charm of blooming cherry blossoms, and various exhibition halls that outline a clear context of urban development. These details left a deep impression on her. She looks forward to further narrowing the distance between Wuhan and Hong Kong and promoting cultural integration through diverse forms such as civil servant exchanges in the future.
It is reported that this exchange is the first visit of HKSAR Government civil servants to Wuhan after the resumption of the civil servant exchange program between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong. The exchange group will gain an in-depth understanding of Wuhan's practical experience in urban construction, public services, industrial development and other fields through on-site inspections, on-the-job learning, and thematic seminars, so as to promote the cooperation between Wuhan and Hong Kong in public services and administrative management to a deeper level and broader scope.
At the event site, the first batch of participants from the Bureau who joined the exchange shared their relevant work experience, providing practical suggestions to Hong Kong civil servants on learning priorities, work methods, and life adaptation. Responsible persons of relevant units promised to coordinate the learning connection and life support for this exchange to ensure the efficient and smooth implementation of the exchange activities. This exchange marks that the civil servant cooperation mechanism between Wuhan and Hong Kong has entered a new stage. The two sides will continue to explore innovative paths for urban governance and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the region.
