This year marks the 20th anniversary of the proposal of the concept "Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Are Invaluable Assets", and the 56th World Earth Day falls on April 22. To rally the strength of the whole society to support and participate in nature conservation and ecological restoration, Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Urban-Rural Construction (hereinafter referred to as the "Bureau") carefully planned and organized a series of rich and colorful "World Earth Day" activities with the theme of "Cherish the Earth · Harmony Between Man and Nature".

On April 25, the Bureau organized its staff and citizens interested in geological exploration to go to the Silurian paleontological fossil site in Funiu Mountain, Caidian District, and carried out the "Funiu Mountain Geological Heritage Study Activity". In August 2024, the Wuhan Municipal Geological Heritage Protection List was approved and released by the municipal government, and Funiu Mountain, the destination of this study activity, is included in the protection list. Zeng Fang, an engineer from Hubei Provincial Institute of Geological Sciences, told the participants that during the Silurian period, Wuhan was a beautiful shallow sea where a great variety of marine organisms lived; the area of Funiu Mountain where they were located has a relatively concentrated distribution of fossils, making it easy to find fossils. At the event site, under the guidance of the staff, everyone held professional geological hammers and enthusiastically experienced fossil collection. During the activity that day, the participants gained a lot and collected more than 10 pieces of trilobite fossils and shell fossils in total.

In addition to the geological heritage exploration activity, the Bureau also launched a cultural and creative work collection activity: closely linking with the relevant competitions of the Publicity and Education Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, it widely collected cultural and creative works from the whole society and recommended the excellent ones to the Publicity and Education Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources. Meanwhile, it purchased "World Earth Day" publicity posters and publicity videos issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources in advance, which were played in a loop on the electronic display screens of the government office and distributed to all units under the Bureau, creating a good atmosphere of "harmony between man and nature".

All units under the Bureau also actively carried out relevant publicity activities: on Earth Day, Wuhan Surveying and Mapping Institute held the opening ceremony of Wuhan Surveying and Mapping Map-themed Bookstore, the first map-themed bookstore in Hubei Province, which was officially opened to the public; Wuhan Municipal Protection and Utilization Center actively participated in the cultural and creative collection activity; all district bureaus set up World Earth Day consultation desks, placed publicity boards, distributed publicity materials to citizens, gave detailed answers to laws and regulations related to geological disasters, and advocated that everyone should protect the earth's resources starting from small things.

In this World Earth Day, the Bureau innovatively carried out a series of activities such as study tours, enabling more people to understand the mysteries of the earth, recognize the importance of ecological protection through geological study experiences, and arouse their enthusiasm and determination to jointly protect the earth's home. In the next step, centering on the deployment of "Three Advantages Transformation", the Bureau will continue to carry out more activities related to ecological protection and restoration, such as geological study tours, ecological popular science, and cultural and creative activities. It will promote the upgrading of ecological protection and restoration from "government-led" to "whole-society governance", transform the concept of ecological civilization into the conscious action of all people, create a good atmosphere for joint participation in ecological civilization construction, and write a beautiful chapter of harmony between man and nature.
