Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Urban-Rural Development Conducts A Survey on the Planning and Construction of WETDZ

On November 26, 2024, Wang Yang, Director of Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Urban-Rural Development (hereinafter referred to as "the Bureau"), led a team to conduct a survey on the planning and construction of Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone ("WETDZ"). Liu Ziqing, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Wuhan Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of WETDZ, and Tang Chao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of WETDZ, held a symposium with Wang Yang and his delegation. They had in-depth discussions on further optimizing the national land and space planning of WETDZ and ensuring the construction land for key projects.

Liu Ziqing said that at present, WETDZ was focusing on positioning Junshan, strengthening Zhuankou and revitalizing Hannan based on the concept of integrating industry and city. He also noted that WETDZ was accelerating its efforts in promoting a new type of industrialization and a new type of urbanization, building a sub-center of Wuhan city, and driving the development of surrounding areas. He hoped that the Bureau would continue to pay close attention to WETDZ and further strengthen its guidance and support for WETDZ in terms of planning guidance, resource allocation and land supply. He also hoped that the Bureau would incorporate the Junshan Campus of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the Junshan Campus of Wuhan University of Technology into the city's planning of innovation development belt surrounding universities, achieve deep integration of industry, universities and research institutes, and help WETDZ create new momentum and new advantages for high-quality development.

Wang Yang noted that WETDZ is the main battlefield of Wuhan's industry, with a good momentum of development and great potential for development. For the issues raised by WETDZ that require support for resolution, the Bureau will establish a working team and form a list of problems. It will coordinate to solve the problems in a timely manner, and ensure land use and planning approval for key projects with high efficiency and high quality. At the same time, it will continue to strengthen the talent force serving WETDZ, provide strong support in adding new metro lines and optimizing land use structure, and promote high-quality development of city-industry integration in WETDZ.

Tang Chao said that WETDZ would continue to strengthen regular communication and coordination with the Bureau, enhance the economical and intensive use of land, and promote industrial structure adjustment and optimization. He hoped that the Bureau would continue to help and support WETDZ in solving the problems and difficulties encountered in the development process, and provide strong support and guarantee for the high-quality development of WETDZ.

At the symposium, the Natural Resources and Urban-Rural Development Bureau of Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone and Wuhan Junshan New City Technology Investment Group Co., Ltd. reported on the work of land planning, construction and natural resource utilization in the entire zone, as well as the relevant situation of the Huangjinkou Project and the existing problems. With respect to the specific issues raised by WETDZ, relevant leaders and department heads of the Bureau have responded one by one and provided guiding opinions and suggestions.

Before the symposium, Wang Yang and his delegation had visited the Junshan Campus of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Junshan New City to gain a detailed understanding of the planning and construction of the Junshan Campus of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Junshan New City.

Participants also included Zhu Ying, Deputy Director of Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Urban-Rural Development, and relevant leaders from WETDZ and Hanyang District.
